Odessa must be ours! is the recreation of the Siege of Odessa, during a battle on September 21, 1941. In the eastern front, the Romanian forces that are loyal to Germany have surrounded Odessa and expect an easy victory. The Soviet's forces counter attack by the Black Sea Naval Fleet, and get supplies to interfere with the attack.

Baptism by Fire[edit]

Part 1[edit]

Minimap

You are given control over three squads of 8, with allies supporting you. Your objective is to break the first line of Romanian defences, which is classic trench warfare. During the mission, the battleships will bombard the enemy trenches (but are extremely inaccurate), and enemy tanks and infantry will arrive as reinforcements from the west.

The western trench, shown on hard difficulty.

Each squad should take a different approach. One squad should approach from the extreme left, and take cover behind the bush next to the barbed wire. The second squad should take cover behind a bush, before a barbed wire opening. The third should take cover behind the downed tank. You now need to advance the first squad to a better position to attack the trench. Use suppressing fire from squads 2 and 3 to distract the enemy as you have your flanking team advance to the bushes left of the trench.

Once your flanking units are in position, recall the other two squads. On hard difficulty, you need to take care of the machine gun north of the trench. Take out the two gunners there. Once that emplacement is no longer active, your first squad may now throw grenades at the trench. As you clear the left trench, you can advance your other two squads and have the enemy take fire from two directions. The enemies will also try to reclaim these emplacements - capture them for yourself, and move them to a safer location (e.g. to the south.)

Mortar pit, north of the trenches.

Next, focus on the mortar pit between the west and middle trenches (assuming you quickly captured the trench - otherwise, prepare for the next step below). The easiest method is to have one squad flank from the left, while the other two try to draw fire towards the south. The first squad can use grenades to clear out the pit. The enemy will try to reclaim the pit after you attack it, especially if you don't have covering fire from the trench.

Shortly after capturing the left trench, enemy reinforcements will arrive. You will also receive two additional squads which have landed. For now, ignore the suggestion to collect anti-tank rifles from the ammo crates, and retreat your forces to the beach. The enemy tanks will mostly park on the eastern front, and the infantry will approach from the west. Focus on the soft infantry, and push to the west. Turn north, and reclaim the first trench. You can now safely search for the anti-tank rifle.

The dead bodies from the reinforcemetns give ample opportunity to replenish ammo for the squads that ran out. Furthermore, the bodies will most likely carry anti-tank grenades that you can use against the tanks. If you couldn't find the anti-tank rifle, approach the tanks from behind the turret, and throw one anti-tank grenade to take it out. While you can use mortars to take out the tanks, it is not cost effective. The battleships will also aim at the tanks, but they have a slow firing rate.

When enough tanks are destroyed, the game will automatically save.

Trevor is a character from Metal Slug 4, replacing Tarma. He is an extremely skilled computer programmer that joins the PF Squad after meeting Marco Rossi. Metal slug 4 characters. Characters Heroes. Marco is the main character of Metal Slug and have appeared in nearly all of the games. Support Characters. Hyakutaro is a POW that can fire energy balls from his hands. Morden is the main enemy of the series. He is the leader of the Rebel Army.

You now need to perform a final push to the north east. There is an anti-aircraft emplacement, as well as anti-tank weapons. Before advancing, shell any known emplacements with the mortars. Even at a long range, they are bound to hit any loose infantry. If you run out of mortar ammunition, make the final advance, while taking any opportunities of cover.

The Romanians will retreat if they take enough losses. In the following cutscene, the ships will report that they finish unloading, and will disengage to avoid being attacked by bombers.
