This is the last of the solo dungeons in Echo of Soul, excluding the Infinite. MultiplayerRPG Platforms PC.

Welcome to my Beginner's Guide for Echo of Soul. Echo of Soul is a new MMO game in Closed Beta published by Aeria Games. In this guide I'll explain everything you'll need to get started in EoS. This includes a basic introduction of classes, UI layout, key game systems, and more.

Choosing Your Class:

First thing you should be aware of is classes are gender locked. At the moment there are only five but Warlock is in the works based on what the Devs have said. Plus there are already tabs for Warlock in the marketplace. Here I'll give you a listing of each class and it's available roles. I haven't gone far with any class except Guardian so I can't give specific details.

Warrior

The Warrior is the male based greatsword frontline class. The Warrior can take on the role of Tank or Raider. Raider is just the EoS term for damage dealer. The two paths for Warrior are Berserker and Protector. Berserker is a Raider, and Protector is a tank.

Rogue

Rogue is a male based dual-wielder, that is purely a Raider. The two paths are Duelist and Assassin. Duelist focuses on chaining multiple attacks together to burst down an enemy. Assassin relies more on poisons to deal damage.

Guardian

The Guardian is the female spear class. She can be either a Tank or a Raider. The Stormguard is the Raider path with a mix of single target and AoE based damage. The Earthguard is the Tank path with high defense and scaling attack damage based on her defense.

Sorceress

The Sorceress is currently the only mage type class in the game. She only fills the Raider role. The Firemage focuses in high damage. The Icemage is more on combat control with CC.

Archer

The Archer is another strictly Raider class. The Huntress path can choose to specialize in single-target or AoE attacks. The Bard is a hybrid damage dealer and supporter with buffs to improve the group.

Getting To Know Your UI:

Here I'll point out the default layout of the UI.

1 - HP, Resource, and Primary Hotkeys

This is your basic computer game setup. You have your HP on the left, current level in the middle, and your class' resource on the right. Below that is your selected skills.

2 - Party Healing and Soul Skill

The left box is where you set a Heal Scroll to use on party members. Keep in mind using a scroll on a party member is treated the same as using it on yourself and the cooldown will be the same. The right box is your Soul Skill. To select your active Soul Skill right-click the box and choose from the four available. More about Soul Skills in the Soul section.

3 - Damage Meter and Game Menu

The Damage meter is built in for Echo of Soul, and allows you to compare your damage with the rest of your group. Below the meter is all of your common in-game menu items.

This type of tumor can generally be treated with radiation and surgery, and is sometimes treated with adjuvant. Symptoms of this condition can include dark circles around the eyes or bulging eyeballs, and paralysis is possible if the tumor compresses the spinal cord. In a high percentage of cases, neuroblastoma tumors are not diagnosed until after they have metastasized; the condition is frequently present at birth but not recognized until later in infancy or childhood.Retinoblastoma is a tumor originating in the cells of the retina, which is the part of the eye that senses light. Neuroblastoma, which is a tumor that affects the adrenal glands and nervous system, is the most common non-brain-based tumor in children and infants. Blastoma. The prognosis tends to be good, with as many as 50 percent of cases being in remission 10 years after the condition is diagnosed.

4 - Quest Log

This is where you track your active quests. Clicking a quest brings up the quest log menu where you can modify which quests you're tracking.

5 - Mini Map

This is your mini map for navigating. It marks where the nearest quest targets are, as well as available quests and quest turn-ins. This area will also notify you on Marketplace transactions that you've listed and when you've got mail.

Basic Primary Camp Set Up

Here I'll introduce you to important NPCs and key points in a camp.

This is an example of a normal camp setup. The two white outlined objects are key points. The one on the left is the warp gate. Talking to the Warp Assistant will allow you to warp to any warp point you've previously unlocked. The right object is the Soul Purification item. Being anywhere in a camp with one of these will allow you to do a normal or a Co-Op Soul Purification. More on Soul Purification in the Soul section.

The Red boxes mark important NPCs. Most are Profession and Hobby trainers. There are three Professions in EoS, and two Hobbies. Each character must choose one profession, but can also take both Hobbies. The Resource Gathering NPC is not shown, but I'll list them below as well.

  • Cook: The Cooking Hobby trainer. Get new recipes and rank up to the next tier at this NPC. Certain Cooking materials are also available at this NPC. The Cooking Hobby allows for crafting buff food.
  • Alchemist: The Alchemy Profession trainer. Get new recipes and rank up to the next tier at this NPC. Certain Alchemy materials are also available at this NPC. The Alchemy Profession allows for crafting certain jewelry and healing items.
  • Soul Expert: The Soul Expert Hobby trainer. Get new recipes and rank up to the next tier at this NPC. Certain Soul Expert materials are also available at this NPC. The Soul Expert Hobby is used to make alchemy and jeweler materials as well as disenchanting gear into Souls.
  • Jeweler: Get new recipes and rank up to the next tier at this NPC. Certain Jeweler materials are also available at this NPC. The Jeweler Profession allows for the crafting of most jewelry, and disenchanting prisms into Jeweler materials.
  • Resource Gatherer: (Not shown.) This NPC allows you to rank up to the next tier gatherer. Resource Gatherers gather the materials for other crafts.
  • Warp Assistant: As posted above this NPC enables quick travel to camps and main cities that you've previously visited.
  • Return Guide: The Return Guide allows you to set a home point. Doing so means wherever you are you will return to that specific point using the return skill. It's beneficial to put your home point on either a major city, or close to your current quest area. The Return Point doesn't affect where you revive if you die. You'll always revive in the closest camp.

Souls:

Souls once purified are used to power your Soul Skills. You acquire Chaos Souls by killing monsters. Chaos Souls are then purified through Soul Purification or Co-Op Soul Purification.

Soul Skills:

Soul Skills are your ultimate offensive or defensive skill depending on which skill you use. Using a Soul Skill enables you to level it up. Your Soul Skill gets 2 points each time you use it, but also consumes 2 souls of that type.

  • Light of Hope: At skill level 1, it grants Crit ACC and Piercing +10%, ATK SPD and Casting SPD +15%, and EXP gained +20%. Light of Hope consumes 2 Souls of Hope per use.
  • Shield of Innocence: At skill level 1, Shield of Innocence grants DEF and PvP DEF +30% and EXP gained +20%. Shield of Innocence consumes 2 Souls of Innocence per use.
  • Flame of Courage: At skill level 1, Flame of Courage grants ATK +16%, ATK SPD and Casting SPD +15%, and EXP gained +20%. Flame of Courage consumes 2 Souls of Courage per use.
  • Hand of Peace: At skill level 1, Hand of Peace grants HP +30%, removes CC, gives CC immunity for 2 seconds, and EXP gained by 20%. Hand of Peace consumes 2 Souls of Peace per use.

Soul Purification:


Solo Purification:

Pressing V in-game will bring up the menu above. This menu shows the number of Chaos Souls in the purple orb at the bottom. It also shows how many of each purified soul type you have. It takes 2 Chaos Souls per 1 purification under the normal method.


Co-Op Purification:

To pull up the Co-Op Purification menu above, right-click another player and choose the Co-Op Purification option. If they accept, this menu pops up. For the most part this menu is the same as the solo version. The big difference is it shows both your Chaos Soul count and the other players. Co-Op purification only requires a 1 for 1 Chaos Soul to purified soul trade. The catch is you can only do as many as the amount the person with less souls has.

Skill Menu:

The last section is the Skill Menu. Up to level 10 your character will lern skills automatically. After that the majority of your skills are based on your choice of path and where you spend your skill points in that path.


The image on the left is what your skill menu looks like at level 10 before you choose a path, on the right is the same menu once you choose a path. Your path skill tree allows for two point to be spent at each tier except the last. From Level 10 to level 18 you get one point every two levels, after that it's one point every three levels.

I'd recommend reading through all the skills on your path before you start spending points, as it requires a rare item to respec. If you know what you want to do with the class it makes choosing your skills easier. For example I plan on making the Huntress that these menus are for a single target burst main. When I unlock the second spec option, I'll make a separate AoE spec.

Unlike the first solo dungeon, there are a few interesting mechanics you need to prepare for in Vagrant's Copse. This guide will detail those mechanics, and hopefully prepare you for quick and easy clears for gear farming.

Dungeon Mechanics:

These are the basic mechanics you have to deal with while advancing through the dungeon.

Due to my trouble grasping the Kimaro mechanic on my first playthough, I made a new recording afterwards.

Detector Eye:

In Hidden Cavern, you're expected to master pathing patterns to avoid pulling too many monsters at once. The Detector Eyes here are a test of what you learned. If you aggro the Detector Eye, it will spawn two monsters in the normal and three in the heroic version. There are two ways to avoid aggro-ing these creatures. The first is just patiently waiting until they are away from your desired destination, then walking to that point. The second is to use dash attacks on the Nepenthus Colony stationary targets to zip past them. As far as I know, this is only possible with Guardian, Warrior, and Rogue.

Here's an example of me using Typhoon Charge as a Stormguard to move through the area.

Gnarled Staff:

These are positioned around the first two areas. They emit a poison debuff and require deactivation to get to the third area. There are also two blocking the door to the final boss that do not emit a poison debuff. In the first area there is one that is slightly difficult to reach. Refer to the video to find its specific location if you're having trouble.

Forest King Kimaro:

To spawn the final boss, you have to kill the initial Nepenthus Queen in the last room. If you die, the boss will remain spawned, so repeating this step is unnecessary. The basic concept of this fight is to interrupt the yellow cast bar and move away from Kimaro during the gray cast bar.

Nepenthus Colony:

Outside of that, Kimaro will spawn Nepenthus Colony mobs, (the little flowers) that expel a wide-spreading poison debuff in the room. Killing these flowers is your top priority, otherwise you'll die too fast. The flowers themselves die in one to two hits, so it's not too hard to do. I had trouble grasping this in my first playthrough of Vagrant's Copse.

Nepenthus Queen:

When he nears half health, Kimaro will spawn a Nepenthus Queen, making him grow in size and increasing his defense. Kill the Queen to revert these changes and finish the boss, while continuing to deal with the other mechanics.
